We're on YouTube!
The first 4 deep-dive videos
TL;DR — We launched a YouTube channel. First four videos below.
The format
They’re system design case studies, featuring popular apps.
Part I: Architecture. The stack, protocols, and main players that the featured app relies on.
Part II: Feature Deep-Dive. How everything comes together in the app’s most interesting feature.
Part III: Context. Where these ideas come from, and what they mean for regular devs like you and me.
The backstory
I broke down a few apps on my personal channel in 2024, and engineers seemed to like them. I got comments like this one:
Big fan of this! Definitely wanna see more video breakdown apps! :)
Of course, I ignored that feedback and instead uploaded 100 unrelated videos. When those flopped, I finally thought, “Maybe I should just give my audience what they want.”
I created “Fullstack Engineering” to be the strictly business vehicle for this educational content.
You’re probably familiar with the Fireship channel (4.1M subs as of today). If those videos are espresso, Fullstack Engineering is pour-over. They’re longer in format, but richer in context.
My goal with this channel is to give you something to watch during your WFH Friday lunch that educates and inspires. If you go back to the IDE excited, that’s a win.
Here are the first four.
